Make Your Thanksgiving Dinner Healthy!

I have heard this for many years as people are looking to be healthier in their eating habits. I do applaud the better choices but also make sure they know this one meal won’t make a difference!

Not to burst bubbles or lead people down an unhealthy meal path, this is the truth! I remember having a conversation with a friend who had very poor everyday eating habits. She told me how she was making her Thanksgiving meal healthy. While I congratulated her on those choices I couldn’t help thinking how this should be one of her meals she really gets to enjoy if only she made some better choices during the year.

I know it is tough. Hopefully if your eating habits aren’t great and you are one of those making turkey day healthy, you use this as a spring board to better choices! If that is the case go for it! It is so important to understand that one meal won’t make you healthy and lose the weight you need to lose. Just as important is to know one meal won’t ruin all the hard work you did! People have that in their head that if they indulge on Thanksgiving, they will gain back all the weight. The key to understand is that if you work to change your eating habits throughout the year, you will naturally eat less as your appetite will decrease. That will make a HUGE difference.

Remember, so many are worried about what they eat between Thanksgiving and New Year, when they should be concerned about what they eat between New Year and Thanksgiving! Think about it.
