If it were up to me, every time a leading infectious disease doctor is on TV talking about a vaccine or mask, they would also have to tout the benefits of a healthy diet. If it were up to me, every time a diabetes doctor would talk about a breakthrough medication for diabetes, they would have to tout the benefits of a healthy diet. If it were up to me, every commercial we would see for heart health would have to end with the benefits of a healthy diet.
If only it were up to me.
There is no substitute for a healthy diet and you certainly don’t have to give up everything you love for the rest of your life! Another plus from just the health benefits, having your diet down is essential to losing, and keeping, weight off. There is no way around it. The saying “you can’t out exercise a poor diet” is so true. I can’t tell you how many people I have talked with during “covid time” that blames their weight gain on the fact they don’t feel comfortable going to the gym. Yes, that has some impact but the reality is if you eat healthy, whole food most of the time, you will keep your weight in check even if you can’t get to the gym. AND a diet rich in fruits and vegetables will help our immune system. That’s something we need to hear more often!
