As the saying goes on:
EASY TIMES MAKE WEAK MEN. WEAK MEN MAKE TOUGH TIMES.
I go to Jefferson Barracks Park and National Cemetery on a regular basis to get exercise and take in the beauty. The July 4th weekend brought this thought to me as I was going through the cemetery and thinking about all the strong MEN AND WOMEN who fought so hard for our rights and freedom. Believe me, it isn’t limited to those resting in the National Cemetery as there are so many that didn’t serve but fought to keep our rights. Unfortunately, those tough men and women made for the easy times and paved the way for the weak men and women today.
Those strong men and women gave us this great country. Notice I didn’t say perfect. Many may ask, how do I know it is great? A very simple test is to see if people are rushing to get into a country or rushing to get out. The answer here is clear.
It is troubling to me when I hear kids of high school/college age say how much they hate this country. It is full of “systemic racism”. People here are so mean. I wonder where they get these ideas from? It is hard to believe that we have people literally risking their lives, fleeing from their own truly oppressive countries to get into the United States. If it really is as bad as the state-run media wants us to believe, we wouldn’t have the issues we have at the border. If it was a bad place to be, and there are so many politicians and media talking heads who say it is, wouldn’t they be the first to stop people from coming in instead of encouraging them to get here? Again, the test of a great country is to open its borders and see if people flee to get out or rush to get in.
While I agree there are bad people here, as there are bad people in every country, a vast majority of Americans are good people. Again, not perfect. And I’m sure the Stars and Stripes, when other countries see that symbol, see it as freedom and help. We help so many countries and that is something ALL of our critics from other countries cannot say about their own country and flag.
This is a great country with all of its problems. I will always stand behind the flag and what the United States of America represents. I know during these tough times STRONG MEN AND WOMEN will, once again, be there to defend this land!
