Can’t we keep politics out of Halloween??
It has been well over a month since the assassination/murder of Charlie Kirk. We heard the usual rhetoric that speech needs to be toned down on both left and right, both sides are to blame etc. I came across this Halloween “decoration” on a walk and it made me think that the divisiveness that we see today is not brought about by conservatives.
I grew up in a conservative household. My parents didn’t preach to me about how great republicans were or how evil democrats were. However, their actions showed me how to act. Seeing this in a yard is telling of where we are today as a society. Never would it have been ok to put something like this out against a political opponent. And back in the 80s this was true on both sides. Fast forward to 2025 and only one side is putting this garbage out. Imagine if this were a mask of Biden, Obama or Harris. The house wouldn’t be standing from the violence. While it is disturbing to me for many reasons, this person will be allowed to keep it up, most likely without incident.
I know there are young kids that live around this house. What is the message it gives them? It is loud and clear that violence is acceptable, at least on one side.
