That’s right, those little seeds that grow sprouts on clay figures are edible and very healthy! They can help reduce blood pressure and are a great source of Omega-3, which so many of us are lacking. In fact, chia seeds contain more Omega-3 than salmon! They also control blood sugar, which is a huge benefit for diabetics. When using chia seeds, they don’t have to be ground up, which make them much easier to consume and digest than flax seeds.
They really are an amazing food as chia can absorb up to 10 times their weight in liquid. Many people make a chia “pudding” by taking the seeds and soaking them in something like coconut milk. Over time it will form a gel that is amazing for athletes as it helps to keep them hydrated. I like to add them into smoothies. Even though they don’t have much flavor I love the additional omegas that I get.
Get your Chia seeds and start getting healthier!
Until next time…
